16 June 2017Nine days till open day! Lots of prep and everything's growing really fast with the hot weather. We are creating a Gnome Trail for our visitors aged 3-8 (see our News page for the entry form) - great fun! Hope to see you on the day and that it's not too hot, not too cold, not too windy, not too wet. Whatever happens, we're opening!
06 June 201719 days till D-Day! So much happening - Damsel flies dancing, Yellow Hammer bird singing, Narrow Leaf Cattail appeared in the pond - a Bulrush type of thing. Arum Lily startling white, two new Koi Carp - very small and colourful - making friends all around and an inviting early evening view of the far patio. Finally, jet spraying is very hard work except for Holly who is making sure I keep at it. Can you see how dirty it was...
25 May 2017How has a whole month gone by. Here's the garden yesterday evening. 25C yesterday and 26C today. The Cecile Brunner Rose is in full flower... I wonder if there will be some left for Open Day on June 25 - only a month away.
25 April 2017Abigail Willis, with a link on our news page, gave me Artichoke seeds which I planted May last year. So proud of them now - they look gorgeous and may even give us a flower this year if we're lucky. Thank you Abigail!
Meanwhile, 'red, white and blue' wisteria are nearly at their peak. 13 April 2017See the happy Wisteria Floribunda Rosea and the Wisteria Floribunda Macrobotrys - coming along nicely. Happy Easter! Happy Passover! Happy Spring well on its way!
7 April 2017Lily of the Valley valley coming along a treat... This is one of the sunniest, warmest springs I ever remember and quite cool today at 16c in the shade but balmy in the sun - 20-22c! We have our first Wisteria flower - the blue one. The red and white are plumping up nicely.
22 March 2017Yesterday was sunny and we spent the whole day cutting back the grape vine, shaping up the green globe by the pond and the topiaried snail and cutting the grass for the first time this year and loads of etceteras... Happy Day..... pouring with rain most of today though so we are feeling very smug about all we managed yesterday.
16 March 2017Look at our magnificent Mimosa! Yay - at last. A bit late this year but worth waiting for - the scent is amazing... The Quince nearby is early...
2 March 2017At last, here it is! A bit of spring! As NWG asked in his comment earlier.
It looks as though it's time to get my garden tools out of the shed... hope they don't need sharpening... |
